August 23. A Fascist band in Marn1orta, carrying revolvers, entered the house of the Bevilacqua family, threatened the whole household, and seized a sporting gun. Bevilacqua was arrested in the hamlet by carabineers and Fascist militiamen. He was detained some hours, and then released. On his arrival at .home he was pursued again by Fascists. Scenting what ,vas in preparation, he jumped out of the window, and was shot at. In the hamlet of Selva Malvezzi, a workman named Callegari Ettore was arrested and detained until the 27th. December. The Socialist daily, Giustizia (" Justice") published a subscription list containing some thousands ef names of men and won1en workers of Molinella in honour of Filippo Turati. On the same morning the brigadier of carabineers of Mannorta searched the house of Villani Luigi, who had been indicated as the collector of the subscriptions. The big farmers loaded up lorries with workers from the hamlets and took them to Molinella on the pretext of a trade union meeting.. At the meeting the subscription list was read over, and the subscribers present were held prisoners and 28 of them made to sign a telegram of protest against the subscription. In the evening a band of local and Ferrarese Fascists, armed with rifles and revolvers, entered the house of Villani Luigi, and beat a workman named Machelli Mario, whom they found there, until the blood came. The brothers Virgilio and Augusto Badiera and their old mother were also ferociously beaten. · A workman named Musiari Isidoro and his brother were brought almost to the point of death. 1-\s a consequence of this same subscription for Giustizia, Fascists penetrated into the house of Cenacchi Giuseppe in the hamlet of S.
