CARRYING ON WITH A NEW TEAM Our engagement to publish this review during two years has corne to an end. An Italian team carries on for an equal period of time. It is understood that at the end of 1978 there will be a ncw undertaking -in England? or in Spain?- unless Interrogations spreads meanwhile and creates an editlon for each language, bringing thus a logical to our most circulation problem: quadrilinguism. Was this first undertaking fulfilled? The aim was to define and determine particular purposes for this review, to create a team of contributors, to set up a net of correspondents, to find a public. Wc are still wide of the mark. Nevertheless Interrogations undoubtedly fills its own place; the studies it bas presented are quoted, discussed, translated, reproduced; the information texts are original; ail over the world two thousand readers buy it and pay for it, while some other hundreds, living in the «closed countries», get it, sometimes through difficult ways. The review exists indeed. This statement must at once be completed by a series of critical remarks concerning essentially the fragility of the links with the Anglo-Saxon world, the almost non existent studies of situations and events in the Arab world, the regrettable Jack in the study of the problems of Black Africa or Asia. ln spite of our internationalist intentions, we appear but as products of Europe and America only. Why this transfer? Because the review must suèceed in living according to its ambitions, a.nd mustn't remain tied to the initial knot. And also because the new generations must assume their entire responsabillty. Will the new period be tuiler and better balanced? Judging by the Itallan contribution -undoubtedly the most thoughtful and the best arrangecl in relation with the themes that are our «raison d'être»-, it is possible and probable. Nevertheless, the coming Italian initiative must be supported, encouraged, completecl, enriched by research workers and activists · from Japan and North Afrlca, from the United States and Sweden, from Mexico and Hong Kong. Interrogations is living and goes on for a new two years lease. We hope that ail its readers and friends contribute in strengthening and improving it. 5
